Talcum Powder Campaign
Understanding the Hazards of Talcum Powder
Throughout these decades, Johnson & Johnson remained strong in their claim that their talcum powder was safe for all ages and was in no way linked to cancer.
More recent studies have shown that the use of intimate care products containing talc while in the 20s and 30s does increase the risk of ovarian cancer. A study completed in 2022 found that increase to range from a 31 to 65% increase that the user will develop ovarian cancer after using talc on intimate areas of the body. It is also critical to understand that the safety concerns related to talc are not only ovarian cancer in females. Talc and asbestos have been linked to:
- Mesothelioma – a rare and aggressive cancer
- Lung cancer
- Testicular cancer
- Cancer of the larynx
There Is Hope for Johnson & Johnson Customers Who Used Talcum Powder Products
While the knowledge of safety issues related to products containing talc dates back to the 1960s, only in 2020 did a judge allow experts to testify in cases related to talc and its connection to various cancers. Even with knowledge of this potential hazard for over half a century, Johnson & Johnson continued to fight the admission of this evidence in court. Now, victims of cancer-related to talc can have the help of expert testimony to explain how their cancer was caused and why Johnson & Johnson should be liable for their losses and expenses as well as possible punitive damages for failing to disclose the potential health risks of the products containing talc and asbestos.
Cases numbers continue to grow, as do the verdicts in favor of cancer patients who were loyal to a brand that cared about nothing more than a revenue stream even after knowing the products could result in customers suffering deadly diseases. Soon, thousands of victims could finally receive the compensation and justice they deserve.
